NEW e-toll DISPENSATION FOR ROAD USERS WITH SANRAL ACCOUNTS

The new e-toll dispensation was announced by the Deputy President, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, on 20 May 2015. At the time of the announcement, it was indicated that the New Dispensation will be implemented in phases, based on the time required to implement the legislative changes and subsequent system implementation.

THE NEW DISPENSATION

The New Dispensation can be summarised as follows:

1. Reduced e-toll tariffs and caps

Vehicle Class Monthly Cap
Paid within the grace period
Class A1
Motorcycle
R174
Class A2
Light vehicle
R313
Class B
Medium heavy vehicle
R1 217
Class C
Large heavy vehicle
R4 032

2. Infrequent User Discount

A 100% discount will be granted to those vehicles that have fewer than 30 gantry passes during any one year period from 1 April to 31 March. The commencement date will be announced. Should the vehicle exceed the 30 gantry passes during this time period, all gantry passes, including the first 30, would have to be paid for.

3. 60% discount on all outstanding toll fees in arrears

Road Users who made use of the 60% discount during the period 3 December 2013 to 31 August 2015 and paid the 40% before 17 May 2016, qualified and received 60% discount.

4. Outstanding toll fees to be settled before renewal of vehicle licence disc

The non-payment of toll may result in road users not being issued with their vehicle license disc, upon renewal of the vehicle license. Road users will be able to renew their licenses, but the disc itself will be withheld until the outstanding toll related infringements have been settled.

5. Monthly cap for accounts not paid within the grace period (new e-toll dispensation)

Users will be liable for double the Toll Tariff but new monthly caps will apply as follows:
Class A1 – R348
Class A2 – R626
Class B – R2 434
Class C – R8 064

As the New Dispensation is implemented, we will let you know if there is any action required from your side. Please be reminded that you need to keep your personal and payment details up-to-date. You are able to make any changes via the e-toll website, (Manage my e-toll Account) or you may contact Customer Services (details listed below).

Please note that the tax regime remains the same.
